The main village Megalo Horio is set, inland, below the remains of a medieval castle. Traditional religious practices are maintained by the island's three monasteries. The area is also a haven for rare wildlife especially Grifon Vultures, Eleonora's Falcons and the Mediterranean Monk Seal.
Sailing around the Dodecanese Islands is wonderful and Tilos is no exception. The port is called Livadi. You can also travel to Tilos by ferry from Piraeus or by hydrofoil from some of the neighbouring islands (including Kos and Rhodes).
