Holiday accommodation in Saria
This bare, rocky little island, near Karpathos, was once the home of pirates who ravaged the Mediterranean. In the 9th and 10th Centuries they built palaces here with the riches they had stolen. Nowadays, the only inhabitants on the islands are Eleonora's falcons, shags, other rare birds and a couple of shepherds, but you can come for the day to look round the ruins of the Platia and to marvel at the barren beauty of the island.
Sailing around the Dodecanese Islands is wonderful and Saria is no exception, boats also take passengers from neighbouring Karpathos.
