Samothraki is a small mountainous island in the Northern Aegean. Its highest peak Fengari, which means moon, stands 1600m above sea level. The main village is called Hora and is located inland. Near the village of Paleopoli lies the ancient Sanctuary of the Great Gods. It was in this archaeoligical site that the Victory of Samothrace was found.
