Karpathos is a culturally rich, mountainous island; an island of great contrasts with mountains in the north and wild-flower covered plains in the south. Pigadia, the island's capital, is a lovely port where red-roofed houses are built on the hill-sides surrounding the bay. The town is also blessed with a long stretch of sandy beach. Another of the many lovely beaches can be found at Lefkos.

Not to be missed is Olympos village. A traditional way of life persists in this remote village that has been lost in most of Greece decades ago.
