The prefecture of Evritania in Central Greece invites the traveller with an eye for nature. The area is densely wooded and maple, chestnut, fir and plane trees are in abundance.

Karpenissi, the principal town of the prefecture, is set at the foot of Mount Timfristos. Here, such traditional crafts as brass work are still practised. Local varieties of feta cheese, sausages may be found alongside locally produced walnuts and chestnuts.

The Greek National Tourist Organisation maintains one of several stone mansions in the traditional village of Korishades.
