| Dressage: the horse and rider must complete a series of prescribed movements (Piaffe, Passage, Pirouette, Halfpass, Flying Challenge) within the allotted space. The three day event is an individual and a team event. It has three components: dressage, speed and endurance and stadium jumping. Jumping: this is probably the most dramatic event with some of the finest horses and riders in the world jumping obstacles such as Oxers, the wall and the water jump. The Olympic Equestrian events will be held in Markopoulo. Markopoulo is situated to the East of Athens, just a few kilometers south of Spata International Airport. If you're thinking about accommodation, places in Athens and Attika within easy reach to the Markopoulo stadium by car are Pallini, Rafina, Loutsa, Koropi, Keratea, Voula and Vouliagmeni. |
