Chios is an island with a rich history. In the main town, Chios, one can still see the remains of a Byzantine fortress. The town also has a folklore and an archaeological museum. The island has some very nice beaches of which Elinda is one of the best.

The most famous product of Chios is the unique sap from the mastic tree. It makes a sort of natural chewing gum and is also used to flavour sweets and drinks.

Sailing around the Northern Aegean Islands is wonderful and Chios is no exception. Chios also has flight and ferry connections with Athens and Lesvos.
