Achaia is the home of Greece's third city, Patras. This university town is where St Andrew was martyred. This attractive port city is overlooked by a castle and is the point of departure for those sailing to Italy and many of the Ionian islands.

In Febuary and March the fun begins in Patras, with celebrations culminating in the Patras carnival (the biggest in Greece).
