Holiday accommodation in Emathia
The prefecture of Emathia is a mountainous land and a land steeped in history. This was the home of Alexander the Great. His father, King Philip had a sumptuous palace close to the town of Veria. The ruins of the palace can still be seen today and amazingly in 1977 a wealth of exquisite and precious grave goods were discovered here. They were buried along with King Philip and his seven wives. They include rich, and ancient clothes and golden artefacts; they are now housed in the Thessaloniki Archaeological museum. From great riches to great simplicity, St Paul preached the gospel in the Vvma square. The trail of Alexander the Great leads down to Nymfaio, the town where he was schooled. Remains of this period still exist. And going further into the past, prehistoric remains have been found in Nikomedia. It is believed that 10,000 years ago this was a thriving farming community,.
