Astipalea, or Astypalaia, is a tranquil and traditional island. The main town, Chora, is a picturesque settlement with a Venetian castle and a network of tightly packed white-washed houses with blue shutters. Traditonal structures such as windmills and monasteries can still be seen.

There are some lovely beaches, the best are reached by caiques. Naturism is permitted on a special beach.

Sailing around the Dodecanese Islands is wonderful and Astipalea is no exception.
