The best known town in Argolida is Nafplio. In the early nineteenth century, this charming port town was briefly the first capital of the newly liberated Greece. Further south is the town of Portoheli. This town is a favourite amongst the yachting set and has a large marina.
Epidavros is the site of an ancient theatre where ancient tragedies are still played. The village of Epidavros is set around a large bay, although there is not much of a beach here. A better beach can be found in new Epidavros a few kilometres away. Come in the spring for the heavenly scent of orange blossom.
